From Oppression to White House
African Americans have came a long way. From being beating, sold, and treated like garbage, it's amazing how far we(Yes we,seeing as though I am of African decent) have come. Six years ago, America introduced to the world, the first African American president in the United States' history. Now, bringing diversity to the White House, the President has elected Loretta Lynch, an African American woman, to replace Eric Holder as our new Attorney General. Lynch is said to have come from a family of Pastors. The Huffington Post, tells the lineage of pastors in Lynch's family. Lynch, a civil rights activists, was influenced by her family's history become an active member of upholding civil rights. She's really connected with her religious side, it shows in her work that she does. I wasn't so shocked reading the article to find out how religious and kindhearted Loretta Lynch is. Many people expect African Americans to be the stereotypical, rude, "ghetto", and just outright violent. But in reality most aren't. I think there's two types of African Americans: Blacks and African Americans. Black people are those who act like the stereotype the name implies; dark devious and mischevious. African Americans are those who exceed the expectation people think they should act. Those who make a difference. That's exactly what Loretta Lynch stands for and works toward. What the article failed to mention is how Loretta Lynch got her start. You'd be surprised how many people got their start from a struggle,
