Security In Elementary Schools?!

We thought high school students were bad, elementary students have proven to be the baddest. Last week in Buffalo, New York, it was reported that a child attending Highgate Heights Elementary School was accused of attacking a teacher for asking the student for a pass. The teacher suffered a concussion after being shoved to the ground, kicked in the head, and hit with a textbook. Over in Elba, New York, three female fourth graders were accused of trying to kill their teacher because she was "mean. They planned to put hand sanitizer around the room, which the teacher is highly allergic to. Classmates told this to parents, whom told a high authority so that the action was prevented. It's just sad that kids are becoming to violent that school districts are considering putting security guards in elementary schools. Are we serious? I'm not saying I don't agree or disagree, but it's just pitiful. I never blame a child, yes I said CHILD, for their wrong-doings. When you think about it, a child only responds the way their environment teaches them how. So if you have a child being brought up in a violent home with no example of the right things to do, how will they know what to do when put in such a situation. I'm saying environment, because not always is it the parents' or guardians' fault, but maybe television or video games. But the fact that they are considering putting security guards in elementary schools should be a message to all families. We need to be more aware of our child/siblings surroundings, because you never know what they're learning from their environment.

  1. I completely agree. Parents will expose children to violence and bad morals, and then they wonder why their children are so misbehaved. While what the children did was absolutely awful, it is partially the parent's fault for exposing them to things that would make them want to act out like this.

    1. Exactly! You can't blame a child for acting the only way they know how.

  2. I agree with you. What do you think can be done to have a safer more encouraging house life for children?

    1. Teach them right from wrong. I'm not saying you should shelter a child from the world, because that's basically what you would have to do to keep them from all violence. But you should let them know that what they are seeing isn't the right way to respond to things

  3. I completely agree. It's beyond foul that elementary school students are acting this way. When we were their age we never acted like that, at least I know I never did. Maybe these kids really do need more discipline in the school setting and at home.

    1. They do need more discipline but not in school, it's not the school's responsibility to raise a child. A school's job is to go into depth, a lesson that the child should pretty much already know. But if you're in elementary school you should already know right from wrong! It's just a damn shame some people have kids and don't know how to raise them. If you're gonna teach a child to do anything, you start YOUNG! because they're so impressionable then.

  5. I agree with you Ditaya, if a kid is raised in a bad environment than the result is that child will grow up to be not so good. Now this is only in some cases, some kids as they get older will turn themselves around to be a better person. But in all seriousness how does a teacher get beat up by a elementary school student?! This I do not understand....
